Last Gaming Blog
Since we are at the end of the semester, we have had experience in dealing with sound, animation, and interaction with our games. It has had great affect on the outcome of my game. At first I wasn't sure about what sounds I wanted in my game. I added a cool little beat box at the beginning of the game which went perfect with the main screen. I learned a good bit of animation for my project, but I didn't end up using any of it. My game uses more interaction then actual animation. I used the interaction with the buttons to switch the pages. Cable Connect is a trivia type game. You have to figure out what cables would be best for hooking up the correct device to the hd tv. It is a great game and has done a lot for me.

Blog about working with Flash.
This last week we have started messing with Adobe Flash CS3 to create our video games for class. It is a very intense program, but a very creative one. I love learning how to program, its so neat the things you can create. It does get aggravating though trying to learn all the little ends and outs of the software. In the end, many companies prefer that you have an extensive knowledge of flash. Hopefully, I will learn to manage the many functions of flash.
So I started trying to create my project in flash...there are so many options. I like messing with both the pen tool and the pencil tool. I think the pen tool is cooler, cause you can make cooler designs. Both tools are really hard to use and require a lot of technique. Overall, I haven't done a whole lot in flash yet, but it will come together. I plan on my project being more cartoonish, the realistic. I am very excited though to see this project through!

Paper Prototype
This blog is on my paper prototyping project. P.P (Paper Prototyping) is an excellent way to really show how your game is going to be laid out. I really had just a general idea of how my game was to be laid out, and when I started P.P. it really made me have to visually create my game. How I created it in the P.P. is almost exactly how my game is going to turn out. It took a good while to draw everything. I am a very detailed oriented person, so I made my drawings very articulate and accurate. Overall P.P. really helped me to see how my game was going to be created. I feel that Paper Prototyping is probably the most important part of the project. It is here that you really plan your game out. You also figure out how you want everything to look and feel. It may have took me awhile to finish but it was an integral part of the project! I feel that it is definitely worth it to do P.P., because it is going to make actually creating the game in flash, so much easier.

Social Issue Game
Darfur is dying is what I played. The issue that this game explores is the fact that different Darfur camps are being stalked by militia. They are also having trouble trying to fight off hunger and sickness. It did a great job of exploring this social issue. It was a well developed game, very thought out and prepared. This game was very fun and I could play it for several hours. It just had so much to explore and had a lot of fun aspects to the game. It is a very creative game.
In my community there isn't much poverty, I live in Teays Valley and it is pretty upscale. So there isn't much poverty here, the closest thing to poverty is in Huntington. Which is kinda a low income area. The Health in our are I think is pretty good, because we have several hospitals around the area. Also I think most people have health insurance and if they don't the hospital til takes them and puts it on the taxes. The environment is also in great condition. We are a great state with great green objectives, so this place is pretty environmental. The education is amazing in our community cause its free up to high school. After that college is pretty affordable compared to other states.
I am not totally sure yet what I want to focus my game on. I either want to do one about computers and what are the components of one. I also thought about doing something about the show LOST. I am not totally sure what I am going to do but hopefully in the next day or two I will. They should follow the hints that I will leave them. I want them to learn something that they haven't learn anywhere else, which they will want to keep playing to keep learning. But more details will come in the next day or two. I need to really think more about this game.

Review of Fix it with Food.
This game was ok....after playing it for a little bit, I wanted to quit. It just wasn't fun. First of all it took forever to get to the actual game. Now the graphics for the game were really cool and I liked them. Now the game just needed some great improvements put into it. It wasn't a really well thought out game. Its not something where somebody would want to keep playing it. The game had many problems, like when I would get any where near the couches it would make me restart. I guess I should explain the game. The idea of the game is you are a little person who tries to navigate the area to get to the vegetable that answers the question they are asking you, such as what vegetable makes your eyesight better. What you have to navigate through this land and avoid is moving couches and tv's. If you hit the couches or tv's it starts you over. When I would get near any of the objects and not even touch them it would restart the game. The actual game just didn't look good. It needed better design and a more game oriented look to it. Overall I did not like the game and it really needs a total restructuring. I would not play this game again.
Review of Free Rice
The game is played was the Free Rice game. Its a game where you are given a word and you are given 4 synonyms. From those synonyms you have to figure which is the synonym for the word. If you select the right word you get 20 grains of rice are donated to fight world hunger. There was also harder levels that you could choose from. It definitely was an easy game to learn how to play. I liked it and was addicted. It was hard though, some of the words were very difficult. The designer probably thought it was to make it super hard. Overall its a great idea for a learning game. The look of the game is very amazing and has many links to different websites that pertain to rice charities. This is a very good game, I would like to figure out how to make the background the cool thing that it was. Also I need to learn to do some flash programming. Some suggestions I would add would be a winning point, because you just kept going until you got bored with it. If you had a certain point when you got like better rice or you fed more nations with it. That would make it so much better. Overall I really enjoyed the game.

Assignment #1 for Intro to Gaming
So this blog is about how everthing went while setting up my accounts for the class. Frankly, it was really simple. I have setup certain sites that are of the same type. I had to create a wiki page two semesters ago and it was pretty easy....Wiki editors pretty much deleted my page in like 4 hours, they said it was too related to another article. My article was on the rice shortage in India. So I am not to big of a fan of wiki. But the Wiki we made was really easy and I added a lot of stuff. Here is my link to it. http://www.myglife.org/usa/wv/mctcwiki/index.php/User:Eagle11
Its a cool page! haha...I guess.
Now as far as a blog. I had a livejournal back in the day and it is fun to look back on that stuff. But I deleted the account and couldn't access it anymore. If you wanna find stuff out about yourself thats posted on the internet go to this website. www.pipl.com this website will find a lot out about you that is on the internet. As far as blogging now....I don't really like to do it but its ok. I like reading other people's. Thinking maybe there will be something interesting in them.
This class overall, is pretty good. I want to really learn to use flash programming, so that i can proficiently use it to make things! Hopefully this class will speed up a little bit!
Well thats it for now. Gonna use exit lines such as SO LONG SUCKTOWN! or PeaceOut A-Town Down! haha Later!

Sitting here on my girlfriend's Mac
So I was sitting here with my g/f and her macbook. I was showing her the fun stuff we were doing in Gaming class... Well we had a cool night....we went to Friday's and ate I was really craving one of those Jack Daniel's Burgers. They are really awesome! the the sauce they put on the burger is sooo good. After that we went to Ashley Furniture cause my grandma works there and we wanted to catch her at her job. Sure enough she was there and she was getting ready to leave so we caught her just in time! If you haven't been to that store...its actually a pretty cool store...they have tons and tons of furniture! We sat there in the most comfy leather chair ever it supported the bum really well! Aren't grandma's really funny? She started introducing me to all her co-workers and then she introduced my g/f as my little g/f it was pretty funny....but it was cool..you can tell they are all sales people. After that we looked around at all the furniture...they have some really cool stuff. I really like this sleigh bed that was like $600. Then I had my eye on some of the cool couches they had there. After that we went back to my g/f's dorm at UC. Where we began to watch the WVU vs. Marshall game! I like WVU more than Marshall even though I go to Marshall. WVU is just more exciting to watch.... SO I was glad WVU won. Later on my g/f's roommate came in Sarah McMullin. This girl I don't know what to think about her I think she secretly wants to kill me but I am not sure...haha...I am just writing this so she will read this....I hope she doesn't want to kill me....But yeah so back to the main Topic...I decided to show my girl Jessica this awesome blog and decided to type something basic into it.! Well I am done! So long Sucktown! haha <$$>Andrew Eagle<$$>
